My Grandfather's and Father's collection - Issues 1915-2005 and more

This is collection belonged to my father and grandfather. Now it's time to find them a good home.

The issues run from January 1915 through December 2005.  91 years, 1091 issues, missing only May 1947. They are in good to very good condition with the oldest ones obviously showing more age. The 1924 issues are in two bound volumes.

In addition to the issues themselves I have 172 maps from the 1950's through the 2000's which were included with some of the issues. Included in that number are 5 duplicates.

Also included is a special issue from 1957 entitled "The National Geographic Society and its Magazine, A History by Gilbert Grosvenor" in excellent condition.

And Two volumes:
Cumulative Index Volume I, 1899-1946 hardbound, excellent condition
Index, 1947-1983, hardbound, with dust jacket, excellent condition.

I also have a nearly complete NGS Atlas Folio form 1958.  It shows some shelf wear (we used this for reference when I was a kid - 71 now...) but the maps were neatly installed and still look good.

Last item: A 1961 NG world globe with plastic base and overlay plastic cap in good condition.  A portion of the decal that covers the seam at the equator has come off.  I have the missing section so I expect it could be reattached if desired.

I would prefer to keep the collection together so I am looking for someone who wants it all.

Everything is in Salt Point, NY about 20 minutes from Poughkeepsie.

The magazines are boxed up and ready to go.

I would love to get something for it all, if only to make a donation to the library, but I expect those of you on this site (which I just discovered the other day) know more about the value than I do so I am open to offers.  The collection minus the atlas and the globe is currently listed on Craigslist for $500.  No idea if that's a realistic number but one must start somewhere.

That's no small collection Robert. Good wishes to you with this!

Robert,

I would be interested in everything from 1915-1959. Do you have an Ebay account?  How much and what might shipping be though?
Thanks for protecting these.

Mark

Mark,

I hope you don't mind my interjecting since I see Robert's collection found a new home, but I have from 1913 to present (all single, no bound copies) and would be happy to consider selling just 1959 and earlier. I have an eBay account and can certainly provide lots of pictures.

Here's the catch: I'm in Calgary, Canada.  I'm happy to meet you at the border, which is nearly halfway between us, if I'm correct that you're in Idaho, at no charge (I won't let a tank of gas stand in the way of clearing some space in my shelves). It's about 10 banker's boxes, so I'm thinking meeting in-person is a lot cheaper than try to ship a small pallet.

If you're interested, please respond.  Thank you.

Evan

Evan,

Yes that would be a trip to above Glacier for me, about 8 hours but not out of the question to make a road trip. My collection is spotty and some in good, others in bad condition.  This would let me keep the good ones and fill the collection.  I am interested.

Sounds good. I see that I can add photos here, so give me some time to unbox them and take pictures, that way you can see the condition of the issues.  I got most of them from an older gentleman, about 25 years ago, who had a subscription from the 1950s forward, he collected a lot of what came earlier and then I started filling some in.

I'll let you know once I have posted.

The first pics are up. Click the Photos tab at the top of this page, select All Albums, it should be the newest album, named Zabawski Collection.  If you like what you see, I'll continue to add more photos - figured best to start with the oldest (and roughest).
