National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

Anyone out there have seperately or with the magazine the original white mailer envelopes that are used to mail your magazine to your house for sale? I am also looking for issues with the white or brown covers that were stuck to the mags for mailing from the 80s through the early 2000s. If you have the magazines with any covers then I want them. I am also looking for any periodical trivia sheets that came with the mags from the mid 2000s on.

I used to keep this paper work with each magazine but I lost all items from the 1980s till this year in a huge house fire. I will pay if someone has these items available. Feel  free to email me at,

Scott,

I am truly sorry to hear of the fire and your losses. I cannot imagine going through that. In hindsight, I wish I had kept all those on a monthly basis as the years went by, but it did not occur to me then. I especially love the artwork on the brown mailing sleeves from about 1997-2006. When did they start shipping in the clear baggies....I am fuzzy on that right this moment.

Years back, there was that little profile snippet in an NGM issue about the kid who had been collecting the mailers and saving them . . .

best wishes to you,

Hi Scott,

Nice to hear from you. I actually lost every issue from 1913 to the present but I have duplicates of the 20s, 40s, and 50s in my garage and have most old duplicate maps. I'm not sure when the clear bags started. I did at one time but lost that info along with any other info I had in the fire. I kind of wish they would just go back to clear bags permanantly so I would not "have" to collect the artwork. With me collecting them is a must.

Thanks for responding.

Scott
