"Scott, I was finally able to look at the checklist and noticed the January 17th 1973 special "Strange Creatures Of The Night" is not on the list. Did that special not air at all? The Television Obscurities website wrote an article about…"

stephen zamarin replied to Scott T. Shier's discussion "National Geographic's newest adventure: a color television series" ~ 1965 debut of "Specials" and NGM tear-outs
"Scott, Some other interesting facts about the specials are that from 1965-1973 they had aired on CBS. Four specials aired each season on CBS with the exception of the 1972-1973 season which had only aired three. Then, the specials moved to ABC for…"

stephen zamarin replied to Scott T. Shier's discussion "National Geographic's newest adventure: a color television series" ~ 1965 debut of "Specials" and NGM tear-outs
"Scott, I noticed on at least two occasions the specials were advertised on a different month from when they were aired. The December 1969 special was advertised on the cover of the November 1969 issue. Also, the January 1972 special was advertised…"

Charles Gannon replied to stephen zamarin's discussion Question about Geographic Dealers
"Just Google Dr. Lew M. Begley, Mesquite, TX. I don't see an email address, but there is a street address and and a different phone number.  If memory serves, the archive sale was in the late 80's or early 90's. The sale included…"

Charles Gannon replied to stephen zamarin's discussion Question about Geographic Dealers
"Dr. Lew M. Begley is still listed online. He is now 86 and still living in Mesquite, Texas. The number listed online is: 972.288.5474. I agree with Melvin. Begley was always just a collector with enough money to purchase whatever he desired. He was…"

Question about Geographic Dealers

Hi,Does anyone know if Lew Begley from Texas is still in the business of selling National Geographics? If so, does anyone have his contact information? Also, I thought I read on this board somewhere that dealer Don Smith had passed away. I would like to know if this true or not.StephenSee More

"Hi, I was referring to the map supplements that were issued in the magazines were also sold separately as folded or rolled supplements. They were sold on paper, linen cloth, or Tyvek plastic depending on the type or age of the map. I believe the…"

"Hi, Maybe the map without the information on the top right margin was a later printing meant to be sold as a sales version. Sales versions of National Geographic map supplements tended to omit that information. Stephen"
