Now, is your "This Fabulous Century" collection the original set of hardcovers, or the abbreviated softcover (5 issues) box set re-issue from 1988? Or do you only have the one vol. you mentioned? Anyway it got my attention. I, and…"
"yeees, this happened many times in the 70's and 80's with the TV announcement banner showing up differently for the same month...haha.
You might like to look over this old discussion from 2010 here on the 'Corner --->…"
1) meant to say July 1979 (not '77) issue;
2) my comment about the heyday era of the so-called popular article reprints should have said the 1960's and 70's, not 70's and into 80's ;
"Actually, I made a few quick corrections/edits to that right after I posted (in the "15 minutes left to edit" option) and then when I went to re-save, the page error-ed out and I lost it, and was not in a good moment to re-do it. I was…"
note that the prior photos are the NGS issued "Map Files" which were made during the mid-1940's thru tp early 60's. These were designed especially to hold not just the maps, but their corresponding Index booklets.…"
"We need you or someone like you to arrange some photos and graphics for the Main page and headline banner for this Collector's Corner!! Haha, seriously our 'Corner needs something done with the top-page appearance..."
unoffical occupation: since 2009 I've been care-giving for 3 of my quite ailing Grandparents...as a live-in helper (in every way conceivable).
Life Member of The National Geographic Society. I became very interested in the Society itself during the 1988 year when I was but 10. Became a proud member myself for my 12th birthday, January 1990. At last I didn't have to wait for my Grandparents to be done with their issues and give them to me : )

Sounds great Scott,
I always enjoy talking with NG collectors & hearing about their experiences. I'm retired and available to chat quite often. I've been a NG member & collector since 1978. Hope to chat soon.
I actually just discovered this website a few weeks ago. It's very cool - I don't really have any particular interests in NG. I've been a fan my whole life, my Dad has an extensive collection and now I'm working on mine.
I haven't been on the site for a few weeks, went to the Custer WI Renewable Energy Fair on Friday. Many plans will be in the following months & years and will try to make an imact with alternatives. For Geographics, it will take a while to sort everything out and start with major projects.
