~ Happy # 1,600th issue of our "NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC" Magazine! ~ ~ {April 2026}

Belatedly, due to health issues during April, I neglected to call proud & happy attention to the Members of this great group, that the APRIL 2026 issue of National Geographic Magazine is/was the 1,600th issue published, since October 1888.
Yay! : - )
(Years back, I also marked the occasion of the 1,500th issue as well)
And yes, this takes into account the 36 issues inclusive for 1888-1895; the combined issues of 1897 + 1917, and the 13th "bonus" ENERGY & WATER issues of 1981, 1993, respectively.
-- [e.g., even though they were not included within the volume numbering, they were billed as the "13th issue" of 1981, 1993, and are shown on the last page as the Year In Review recap (Dec. 1993); as well as included in The Complete 'National Geographic' on DVD-rom sets, in their proper places following Feb. 1981, Nov. 1993].

Well, reading (longer, more in depth texts) seems to be in decline in the world, so I hope the printed magazine lasts as long as it can. Also there are more personal reasons at play for me, as I believe there are for most of us, since I associate the magazine with my late grandad and my childhood. He was a long time subscriber, (the magazines I have from the late 70s to 2005 are all his, my issues start later). So I remember the "line of yellow" on his shelves, and as a small kid in the late 80s not yet having the ability to even read, much less in English, I would look at the pictures and of course take out the maps! But I digress ...
