Please describe the Vol 1 #2 & #4 issues. Are they a brick color or brownish with vertical lines showing on the cover. If so, these are the National Geographic official reprints from 1922.
they are the originals they have the double line all the way around just like the one John has a picture of.I'll post piuctures of them as soon as I get a chance.
Based on the photo you have posted, you have the 1922 Reprints of Vol. 1, No. 2 & No. 4. These were official NGS reprints for those two magazines. They are scarce, but not rare.
are they suposed to say 1922 reprint any where non the mag
No, they will not state that they are a reprint. Because of the scarcity of the original Vol. 1 Nos. 2 & 4 magazines, the National Geographic Society reprinted those issues in the 1922 to fill a demand for those seeking to have a complete collection. The original magazine covers were printed with black ink on reddish brown paper. They measure 6" x 9 3/8". To defferentiate the reprints from the originals, the National Geographic Society printed the 1922 editions on brown paper with visible vertical lines. These measure 6 1/4" x 9 3/8". This particular information comes from Collectibles of the National Geographic Society by Roger Nathan. It is common knowledge among experienced NGS collectors.

Hope this helps.
how much are the reprints worth.
Condition is important. I notice a chip on the one in your photo. It would be best if you could try to sell them by competitive bid; especially in today's market. I would expect to get $50.00 to $75.00 ea for them, but it has been awhile since I've seen one for sale, so the market and demand will ultimately set their value.

Good luck.
I agree with Charles about the Volume 1 issues. I am interested in hearing more about the Volume 2 to Volume 12 magazines. If not already sold, could you email me details please: dalefmurphy@gmail.com

Hi Ronnie,

do you have the April 1913 issue for Machu Picchu? If so, are you willing to sell this individually?

Regards.
