Supplements
I'm surprised I haven't seen any comments on the lack of supplements again, for 2017. Maps are a big part of geography and there have been several changes that haven't been addressed as supplements this century. And from what I see, a lot of the younger generations don't know where a lot of countries or even States are located. It's over time to update continental maps for Europe, Africa, and Asia, and a World map that isn't so dark colored for countries like the one they include for new members.

You are absolutely correct Harold on your assertion about some "update" maps are in order and far past due !
Now that you mention it, yeah, I guess it's surprising Phil or Tom didn't mention the lack of map supplements this year (there was one? perforated poster though, right?).- Scott

The last time there was only 2 yearly supplements was way back in 1935. 1934 and 1931 had only 1 supplement.....

Then there was a spurt of new loose supplements:

It has been twelve months, going on thirteen, since the last loose map. Each month I keep hoping that this will be the issue with a new map. Also wishing, but not expecting, a new map of the world to show the new countries that have cropped up since the last one issued.

Agree. I just received the January 2018 issue and no loose supplement. But normally, they never have had them in January. Keep hoping they get the message!

A word of caution about "normally" - just when you think you've got the NGS figured out - they up and surprise you.
This really happens when you're attempting to put together research on the past and discover - it just wasn't so...
Keeps us on our toes!
We ought to have a party when next they publish a new map supplement! Count me in!
