The cover of a promotional booklet used to usher in the Slovenian language edition of National Geographic magazine (with the May 2006 issue being the first). It was the same size as the standard magazine, with 34 pages of selected articles from the past English language editions.

Nice share.

What did the May 2006 issue look like?

Thank you!

The May 2006 issue had the same cover as the English language newsstand issue (The Judas Gospel cover).  National Geographic Slovenia had different covers on many occasions, especially when covering bigger local stories (I'm using the past tense here, since sadly the final issue of the Slovenian language edition came out in December 2025.)

Here's a picture of the May 2006 edition. The writing in red on the top says: "Now also available in Slovenian language", The main title says: "Judas Gospel", subtitle: "Traitor of Christ seen in new light", titles below say: 1) "The Lost Wilderness of Alaska", 2) Humanity's Genetic Travel" and 3) "In Prince Charles's Backyard". Maybe also an interesting historical fact: the price on the top is still in 2 currencies, cos at that time we were replacing our national currency (the Tolar - SIT) with the Euro and both featured for the transitional period.

Thank-you, Ziga, I was just curious -- that Judas Gospel cover seems to have been used on a plethora of non-U.S. NGM covers for May 2006.

here's the complete "Judas Gospel" cross-platform items produced on that topic, in 2006 ----->>

Scott, Is the magazine shown above in your array the UK Version?  The May 2006 Subscription Cover was different than the Judas Cover used on the Newsstand and Foreign Versions.  Here is an excerpt from the "Cover Variants" disscussion:

May 2006

This issue had two different covers: one for subscription members and another for the newsstand.  Apparently the newsstand version was used to help advertise the TV special on the NGC titled “The Gospel of Judas”.  Thanks go out to Philip Riviere for pointing this one out to me.

Yours in Collecting,

Tom
