National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

A few years back I came across a couple of dinner menus/programs for the 100th Anniversary Dinner for the society. As I have been going through recently and begun to make a more detailed record of my collection for insurance purposes I was trying to assign a value for them. Have not come across anything like this for a while in the auction sites, was wondering if anyone had an idea as to a possible value. Some of the other stuff I have in this category comes up online enough that it is easy to assign a value, but this one has me stumped.

Michael,

Hmm, it has me stumped too. I have no idea what to say about value. How much did you procure them for? If you get some time, I'd love to see a photo uploaded of what they look like. I was into the Society's Centennial big-time when I was younger.

Anyway, I was very interested to hear about this uncommon item you have, thank you for sharing!

Hey Scott, thanks for the reply, I have added a few shots of the program/menu.

Hey Michael,

I forgot to say thank-you for sharing the pics! I was interested to see them. How many copies do you actually have of this menu?

Hey Scott, I actually have two copies of the menus. I grabbed them off ebay in the late 90s but it was so long ago, I have no idea what I paid for them.

Michael,

I have a few of these as well.  I can't remember where I purchased them or the amount paid.  Most likely they came from a dealer.  They are very nice and I haven't seen one come up on EBAY ever (except yours).  I was very active up until 2004-5 on ebay and collecting, but it became too much to deal with and I am now just starting to dig through my collection.

I am sure there are more out there, but I would insure them for 100-200 dollars each. (that amount may be way off!)
