National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

I have a collection of NGM from 1898 until mid 70's they were purchased by my grandfather and kept in boxes special for them. I am being forced to move and have no room to store. Would like to know worth and to sell them if possible.

Depending upon completeness of teh collection especially in the early years, whether single issues with covers in tact and supplements of bound volumes (especially non-uniform binding), and overall condition in either single or bound copies, the set could range from just a few hundred dollars to upwards of $5000
My interest is probably largely dependent upon your location, as freight and insurance add mightly to total cost of a set's acquisition. Do you have scan capability or otherwise images of the earlier magazines?

The value of your collection is largely dependant on the completeness and the condition of the older issues. Hoping and assuming that you have a collection of single issues, as opposed to bound issues (usually 6 months each), since you refer to their being kept in boxes. What kind of boxes? Also quite pertinent is the presence of older maps and other supplements. Can you scan or provide photos of the older and middle sets?
When selling a large collection, it is better to have it picked up locally, since shipping and insurance costs are considerable because of the weight involved.
Again, strictly dependant on the completeness and good condition of the older issues (particularly before 1920, but also from 1920 to 1940) I am interested in buying your collection and picking it up directly, and will pay cash, (hoping that your location is in the northern part of the state). You might send me an Email at jeanthi@abacom.com or continue here...Your phone number could save a lot of time. Can provide detailed criterea for evaluating condition of magazines (or bound issues) if wanted. Looking forward to hearing from you.
With the first year 1898, I am assuming these are the originals? Conditons and the bindings or non bindings greatly affect the values. Rarely are collections available and will attract a large amount of collectors. I would be interested but have a broad range for a price range until further description.
still available?

Hi Evelena!

Is your collection still available?  Where are you located?  I'm in Bancroft, Ontario, Canada.
