I am looking for the red & black slipcases. I am not worried about the Volume and year numbers since one thing my dad showed me was how to change them.

Best wishes on that John! Those red and black slipcases are mighty hard to find. Keep your eye out on eBay though. You may have to buy some more Nat Geo issues to get the slipcases (I've seen issues for sale which come with the red and black cases).

I know you probably don't want to hear that option though ! haha.

I can confirm what Scott said about those large slipcases. I got 6 of them when I bought a collection remainder locally.

Hi John, I'd be interested to hear how you change the dates and volume numbers on those red and black slipcases (the Highsmith slipcases).
Dale
Very simple actually. All you need is a red paint marker (or model / craft paint & brush), and a gold lettering kit from a craft section (Wal Mart, Hobby Lobby etc.). Repeat as needed.
Hello John,

If you want the 6 large black & red slipcases I have (marked 82,83, 84,87,88,92), I will trade them to you for 12 of the regular 6 months cases which I use to house all of my magazine collection. I would prefer cases that I don't have:73(2), 74(2), 75(2), 76(jan-jun), 78(2), 79(2) or any from 2003 to date, but I will accept any if need be. I guess I can find a way to modify the dates on these also....
Jean, I am curious about these 'large' slipcases. I assume you mean the Highsmith cases. I am not aware of larger versions. Several years in the 1930's required one to use 3 slipcases to house the thicker magazines for those years. Can you enlighten me? Thanks
Hello Dale,

I offered the large slipcases in question to John because he seemed to be more interested in them than I am. The years are printed on them (see previous reply). They are meant to house all of the single mags for a year, which means they would have to be made wider for the thicker magazine years. I do not know if this is the case...
