National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

I am here to update this page. Unfortunately, on Dec 3, 2023, TAPS was played as MSG Joseph F Billone was released of his final post and duties of the US Army. His legacy of National Geo mags and maps still sit here today in plastic storage bins. My dad spent his life preserving these from the first to this past month's editions some in triplicate. It will kill my sisters and me to throw these away. Most are in acceptable condition. Please can someone find a home for them? My contact number is 631-355-3376.located on Long Island NY

Hello Joe,

I am very touched by your message and would be interested in your father's National Geographic magazines, particularly those before 1911.
For information I live in France and I know that shipping costs are high but maybe we could find a deal.
Many thanks you for your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Jérôme

I apologize for not only the delay on this response but for the OBNOXIOUS comment made by WIldbunch. There was no reason for it nor any reason he needed to be sticking HIS BIG NOSE IN MY BUSINESS!

As for the magazines I have now found the older ones. I have reprints from 1888-1906 mint conndition

ORIGINALS 1903 / 1905 / 1906-1909 / 1908 two complete

after that I have most teens and anything after 1920 completes in 2x / 3x

Ty for your interest. If still interested please email me @    nbillone@yahoo.com

TY JOE

He meant the whole collection. Don't be nitpicky. And if he is kind enough to even spend his valuable time packing them magazines to be shiped to frogland, then prepare to pay full amount. Not "make a deal" as you said. Not only you are getting free magazines, but you are even making "deal" lmao. And by the way, your shipping costs for his collection to be shipped to frogland is close to 800€

DO me a favor and keep your obnoxious bs remarks to yourself and OFF MY PAGE YOU BIG MOUTH BEHIND A SCREEN!   HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT MY FATHER AND POST A BS PREJUDICE REMARK LIKE THAT AGAINST A MAN BECAUSE HE IS FRENCH!!  I WILL FIND A WAY TO DELETE YOU AND BLOCK YOU OR I WILL MAKE A COMPLAINT TO THE SOCIETY PAGE AND HAVE YOU REMOVED

What happened to your father's collection, Joe?

Hey Keith

I actually just found the older issues. I am posting it here. I have a couple people interested in them but who knows. Thank you for asking. Are you interested in any of it?Nat%20Geo.pdf

Thanks Joe,

I now have all the 1964 reprints that were bound 1888-1907. Except for Jan & Oct 1908 my collection is now complete. Your list shows you have all the 1908s, so you shouldn't break them up. Naturally, I'm missing some supplements. Maybe you could add a list of which NGs have the supplements?

See discussion here at NGS collectors corner:

Checkoff List of All National Geographic Maps and Supplements. Updated to July 2017

I am sorry but I have no idea about supplements. Any and all maps are in boxes and impossible to go thru. If you want them, you can have them all at a very generous price. Take them all and anything else I find I will send you. Look thru them and save what you want and do whatever you need to do with the ones you do not want. That is the best I can offer when it comes to this collection. If you live close you are welcome to come and look at what I have.

How many boxes and how big are the boxes?

Do you believe your father took out all the maps and supplements from each issue? That would mean none of his NGs have maps or supplements, correct? As you are aware, NGs with the maps and supplements are worth more.

Keith

boxes are very large. I would never even attempt to go thru them. they all go together. When I say thousands that is an understatement. Maybe 20 large boxes with 1000 maps in each? Couldnt even begin to tell you.

Where are you located?  These will all be disposed of this fall if no one comes to take them. I would like to get them to someone who has the time and interest in them. I will only be keeping the mags prior to 1925. I will not be concerning myself with other since no one else does.

I have a checklist that goes up to 2017 and there are 497 maps, supplements and pictorials listed. So one large box should be sufficient. Did your dad collect multiple copies? Maybe those boxes have something else in them?

I'm in Rockville, Maryland and my wife and daughter will be visiting NYC later this year. Maybe...
