National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

A dear friend of mine died last year, leaving me his collection. I do not have the room to keep them.

There are 10 storage totes and a box of maps. He had them all up on shelves in his living room and was very proud of them. I just cannot keep them. I would love to sell them as one lot.

I live in southern Indiana and with that many the buyer would need to come get them.

I know there is about 100 years, the earliest I have seen is 1913, I noticed doubles of several isues too. Most are in very good shape, I know it's probably not good the way I have them stacked in totes so it's best to find them a new home.

Is there anyone that would be interested in these?

I didn't know whether I should go through them and write down each issue or not, but I think it is a pretty good collection. There are also a few hard back books with them, indexes I believe. Im sorry if I sound vague, I just don't know much about them.

Thanks for any help you can send me.

Are you still interested in these? I will come down on the price (to 350)if you can get them in the next 30 days. I really would like to get these sold and out of the house. Thanks, Becky

Hi Becky,

I am really trying. My finances are really bad now. I am trying to sell nearly every thing I thought I would never sell. If you find another buyer you should sell. I'm sorry but I am in deep dodo. Take care, Mike O

Sorry you are having problems. If you know of anyone who would like these please send them my way. I am willing to take any reasonable offer. My husband is wanting them out of the house, may have to move them out to the shed, which I really don't want....I know they need to be preserved. So I need to sell them as quickly as I can.

Becky, I would buy them in an instant if we were closer.  I'm in Bancroft, Ontario, Canada, and don't ever go state side.

I wish you could too.  Today I would take $100 for them. I have more than that in the storage totes they are in, but winter is approaching and I need the room back. It's beginning to look like they may have to go to the dumpster!

Sorry to say since I haven't been able to find anyone to take these,we are taking them to the dump. Hate to do it, but gotta have my room back and get on with our lives.
