National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

I recently acquired a lode of National Geographic mags and want to sell them. I have what appear to be full years (will catalog them this weekend) 1955, 1956, 1967 thru 1980 and have no idea what they are worth. Anyone have some help for me?

Hi Nancy,

If they are in decent/good condition and better + ,you could try and post them on eBay perhaps. If they are beat up, torn, stained, anything like that then honestly not worth any effort to get rid of. But, if they are "good" and if you also have the map supplements, then you can get something for them - but not millions Haha.

For example, when I sold my extra years from 1983-2004, I sold them per year for between $10-15 (with and without the maps)......though these were all in very nice condtion - clean, no moisture damage, etc.

If you have any specific questions or want some tips, feel free to respond back. Also, look for a 1965 Winston Churchill funeral mini-record in the issue; 1969's Space record about the moon landing, and then a 1977 (i think) issue w/ Humpback Whales on the cover - there's another mini-record titled "songs and sounds" of whales. It is a bonus if you still were to have those 3 items.

Take care,
