this sub-group can cover all aspects of the Society's "Book Service" division, (formally) established in 1957 by Melville B. Grosvenor, then-President & Editor.
A proper over-view and a suitable group cover photo pending... Thanks, ~ Scott S.

Happy to join your new group Scott. Although I don't collect the NG books, I have about 25 of them (all from the 1950's on) and do enjoy reading and using them for information.

Hi Phil,
thanks for joining these newest batch of groups! I saw you were basically my/our first recruit. I have had a roster of things I've been itching to share, and I really want other of our 'Corner members to jump in too.
As for the books, ha. I can't believe this now but when I first started building my NGM collection (from scratch) on about 30th-Dec-2004, I totally had no thought of "getting into" anything other than the Magazine, excepting the relevant supplements only of course. In the early phases I would see all the other stuff and think "oh no, no way I'm getting into that, I don't need the books, and the other "stuff" " HAHA. Sort of comical now, since I have too much and a ton of the books - just the book side of NG collecting turns into its own beast.
I'm curious which particular books you do have, insofar as it would be indicative of where your true subject-interests lie, as opposed to "gathering" NG books for its own sake.

Scott,
My books are mostly the history related books: Ancient Times, Greece & Rome, Middle Ages, Incas, Aztecs, Civil War, Revolutionary War, Clues to America's Past, America's Beginnings, Cowboys, Lewis & Clark, Vikings, Visiting Our Past, Amazing Universe ... Etc. I got these books back in the 60's when I was in college and read them all ..cover to cover

Phil,
Great share thanks. Now see, I love that you r-e-a-d them. I know many people sincerely value their books .... that they never read. I'm happy to see but that you've kept them all these years too!

Hi there, I love NG books and my dad was an avid collector, with his passing I now have his collection and no where to keep them. I am asking if anyone might know how or where I could sell these books? They date back to 1888- 2016! They are some missing here and there, but there are over 2100 books that I know of. I would appreciate any help someone might be able to offer.
Thanks in advance,
Tammy
