My father is downsizing and cannot keep his collection any longer. He has the complete set from 1956 to the present (and various indexes) in very good condition. I would love to keep them but live too far away to justify shipping..
The collection is currently in Tampa. Available to best offer :D

Laurie, please check the dealers link at the upper left on the main page. You may find a dealer willing to take them off your hands.
Please understand that there were "millions" of NG issues published each month during the years of your father's collection. The demand for an entire collection of these years is far and few between.
FYI - the closest dealer I know of (I'm sure there are many others but don't know them) is Bruno Amalberti, a member of this corner, who lives in Jacksonville.
Good luck.

Thanks much Mel! Mainly I hate to throw them away... when I found this site I thought perhaps a chance to make my retired dad some money :D Do you know if retirement homes or hospitals are generally interested or saturated?
Thanks, Laurie
Laurie, ...hospitals I'd say no likely not. A retirement (home) community may have interest - hit or miss. There was one I volunteered at in college that jumped at such an opportunity. They'd break up a group and let different residents take what they wanted, and they'd put some in the commons, and even use some for "fun projects".
Then again there was another one I observed blanket-declined any offers of bulk lots of magazines such as Nat Geo, Smithsonian, Country Living, Reader's Digest, etc.
If your Dad has some patience, you could try and post for sale until someone sees it and wants it (someone needs to make the listing, take some pics, and then do some shipping arrangements, if not strictly for pick-up only).

As for the Indexes, yeah if it's not a problem for him to verify what they are I may be interested, but can't guarantee anything without knowing more than "some indexes". In Nat Geo collecting, there's different types, different years, and some are book-index for NGM, some are yearly or bi-annually, some are only for maps, etc.
Fun stuff !
Laurie,
I also was going to make a comment for you, but Mel thoughtfully did. So now I'll simply ask, might you take a photo of whatever these Index(es) you have are, and I may have an interest, if they are such as I do not already have.
