Hi!

I'm interested, but need to know if these are 1964 reprints. Also, what happened to vol II-VIII? Thanks.

Ted

As far as I can tell, they are 1964. Anything specific you'd like me to check for?

I don't know what happened to the other volumes as I never had them.

They can only be 1964 reprints if they have the NGS covers on them (not a technical absolute - but highest probability).

Volume I, No's 1, 2 & 4 are the only possible exceptions. If #'s 2 & 4 have the exact same covers as the rest - they are 1964 reprints.

To be absolutely certain of #1, you need to observe the lower right quadrant of the inside of the back cover. If you see a small number "75", that's the year of reprint (which remained in production long after 1975). Otherwise, lacking any numbers, by default, the issue is a 1964 reprint.

Yeah, there's no "75" in sight

They do have all their covers, as the pictures show (i can take more), and not one has ever been read...

There are a few removable maps inside, even though i don't have a list of which ones are supposed to have them

I can check them for anything specific

Let me know if u're interested

List of map supplements:

http://ngscollectors.ning.com/forum/attachment/download?id=1029239%...

You must go to the listing near the back for the first 36 issues (first 6 volumes), all the rest are listed under the month and year in the table. This list has not been updated for the last couple of year.

I can go through the list to make sure that they are there...

Most of these have maps that fold out, and im certain nothing has been removed...

Others have separate maps; I checked a few so far and they all seem to be there?

So are u interested in purchasing these? I can take precise inventory of everything if you are

Mel,

I've got a bunch of 2010 reprints that do not have "75" on the inside of either cover; they are definitely not 1964 by default.

Ted

Are they NGS sponsored?

If so, this is new information to me.

And if not, do they have the same "covers" as the NGS sponsored reprints or the flamboyant covers usually associated with "other" productions like the one below:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-National-Geographic-Magazine-Volume-V-1...

This type, and others like it, are NOT NGS sponsored reproductions.

Ted,

your 2010 copy "reprints" . . . did your procure them from a gentleman named Terry out in Washington state, by chance?

   regards,  Scott S.

Konstantin,

If you're asking me, I was simply providing answers to questions asked. I am not interested in the reprints.

Good luck!

Mel

Konstantin,

My advice to you is to put these on eBay, but you're going to have to offer some kind of proof they are from 1964 to get the best price possible. If you're not prepared to do that, get hold of a collector in the Toronto area who has a Nathan or a 1971 Buxbaum (which, sadly, I don't). These are books by experts. I'd love to offer you $300 to get them off your hands, but I'd be cheating you if they were printed in 1964.

Ted

Yeah sorry, Mel, I didn't realize who exactly I was replying too...

TED: Let me look into it, and if I don't find someone locally, I'll sell them to you... Whereabouts are you located, btw?
