Hello,

It sounds like you have a complete set of the NGS 1964 reprints of 1888 to 1907. These are light brown and included exact reprints of all covers and ads. Each of the covers has a small "reprint" note added. This set has a good market value. I am presently looking for Vol.IX to XVI in this set.,

The green bound issues from 1907 to 1988 are not likely to be reprints, just privately produced bound issues, they might (or not) include the individual mag covers , they usually don't include the ad sections. And they are not inscribed as "reprints". These also have a fairly good value, especially the older ones and depending on how they were put together and their condition...The lenght of the (uniform?) set should interest some collectors also.
jean, thank you so much for the information!!! the thumbnail picture --are the books. :o) there are also 2 red bound books that came with the set. they have folders as pages. the title "national geographic society maps". they are 3" thick. have you seen or heard about them??

Your first ten volumes are likely 1964 reprints from the Society, 1908 on are probably original issues and if bound in standard binding until 1988 you have a very good collection. Reprints fetch $1500-$3300. Without supplements, Id say $1200-$2500 on the bound volumes. If supplements are either in pockets in individual volumes or in separate slipcases, you might add 20%
Also depends on whether covers and advertising bound in, or only the text block (typical)
While I usuallly counsel sellers that individual listings may bring higher than a set will fetch, if you have uniform binding for 80 years plus the reprints, your collection ought to sell as a set
Happy Collecting
Paul
One additional thought after reading Jean's post, if the map cases are ten-pocket Society issued, they ought to be $5-$20 empty and $15-$50 filled depending upon the vintage of the maps. If they are the modern maroon faux leathette, the case have no value in excess of their contents. If they are not Society produced and 3" is too wide for Society issues, I suspect the cases have slight if any value apart from their contents
Again happy collecting
Paul
