National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

Any one out there have a copy of the following items you might be willing to sell? I know I've asked before but I still can't find them.

1. National Geographic Magazine For Collectors vol. 1 #3 1985 edition (by Don Smith) (Not the 1988 revised one)

2. National Geographic Magazine For Collectors 1888 - 2000 (by Don Smith)

3. Collectors Guide To The Nat. Geo. Magazine 1971 3RD Edition Limited leather cover edition (Edwin Buxbaum)

I can be reached at - swsilverithecollector@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Scott,

I am unaware that #2 above even exists.

The last publication I'm aware of for Don Smith is the Volume 2, No. 1, 1888 - 1996.

If you have incite to any later publications I'm all ears!

Mel

I was unaware of this 1888-2000 issue myself until I saw a copy for sale on Ebay. I have attached a link to a bad fuzzy copy of it that I took. I'm sure it had Vol. II No. 2 at top. As you can sort of see the cover had a drawing of a horse head on the front. I wish I had a better photo to show but this is the best I could come up with at the time (My printer decided to run out of ink at that moment and of course I did not save it on my computer.CCI06242018.jpg

Thank you for the data point - looks like some research is in order.

See next reply for photos of  2000 edition by Don Smith.

Mel,                                                                                                                                                           After some time tracking down Don Smith. I contacted him and he sent me a letter back and an extra cover (unfortunately not the whole issue) of the 2000 Nat. Geo. For Collectors. attached are clear scans of the letter and front cover also a scan of the inside of the cover. Pass on the info to anyone who is interested.
