Hello Everyone,
I have attached the Grosvenor Medal that was awarded to Thomas W. McKnew in 1980. On the reverse side of the medal it reads as follows:
"Awarded to Thomas Wilson McKnew for 40 years of dedicated service and enduring contributions to the achievement of the Society's scientific and educational objectives. 1932-1980.
This medal is named for Gilbert H. Grosvenor and is awarded for exceptional service to geography by a Society officer or employee. It measures 4" in diameter and 1/2" thick. It is very heavy. It is gold plated bronze made by the Medalicca Art Co.
Previous recipients are John Oliver LaGorce (1955), Melville Bell Grosvenor (1974), Thomas W. McKnew (1980), Melvin Payne (1982), Owen Anderson (1991) and William Graves (1994).

Beautiful medal, Jeff. So close to my name. : - )
I hate to be a picker of nits, but there are two L's in McKnew's middle name.
Tom
