Wanted Info - On Ancient Irrigation/Canals Mid/South Americas

Hi

I believe (not 100% sure) that there was an article in NGM re irrigation etc.  Probably in the last 10-20 years.

The article was from a US archeology group, this was their second visit to same site, and described about finds in a valley and the possibilities of sourcing water from adjacent valleys.  There were maps outlining the discoveries etc.

Can anyone help me locate this article ?  Sorry about the lack of info, what country etc. as I do not remember.  Read it at the Doctors surgery some years ago and would like to find again.

Have done a lot of searching but no luck.

Thankyou

Charles Harris

Charles,

Checking the murky depths of metadata:

The September 2002 NGM included a series of articles and a supplement map on water worldwide including at least one on irrigation.

There is a special Water Edition with map in November 1993 including irrigation articles but it only covers North America.

Interestingly, there is an article on this subject from over 100 years ago: May 1916.  I wrote a review on it.:

Hope this was helpful.

Charles,

I researched Irrigation canals and found an article in the June 1990 Nat Geo issue.

Hi Tom & Philip

Thanks for your replies.  I will follow up and get copies of the mags etc.  Much appreciated.

I think I was born a few thousand years too late.   A most intriguing period of civilisation and I believe we do not understand fully how advanced they were.  No laptops then.
