What is a typical Nat Geo Ad? I don't know... Everybody has their favorites.. and these are usually pre 1970. I've posted most of the Santa Ads which are very, very popular. I like the car ads both 50's and 60's and pre 1940's. I also love the art deco ads of the teens and 20's. Like Tom, I like the Campbell soup ads and the Ivory soap ads.

Phil,
My reasons for suggesting a Christmas Coke ad to Scott as the thumbnail are that, even though any ad from the NGM can be considered a collectible, these are KNOWN as collectibles. They are very popular and recognizable. In addition, they are colorful which I think is a big plus.
The only downside I see is that they are seasonal.

Well, it's not written in stone, haha. I can alternate and swap the ID thumbnail with any frequency desired. I'll start w/ one of these above and then rotate. Phil, give me a few more in this thread please ; and I'll look for your Coke ads folder later.
*only thing is that the formatting defaults on this site for thumbnail pics limits the ability of any full image being seen -- it'll crop off tops/bottoms in favor of a square image . . . depending on the particular ad image, this will either be "ok" or not usable, if it cuts off too much. Hmm.
