Map Of Discovery Western Hemisphere

I have an original print of this N.C. Wyeth painting that was published in January 1929. It was found in my grandmother's hope chest when she passed. I was wondering if anyone had any information on the value of this print - we had it safely framed and protected and it's in good condition for its age. If not - it is still beautiful to look at. I'm just inquiring for insurance purposes or not.

If it was never folded, but instead rolled, it runs upwards of $100, though at the end of the archives sale it was bring more. Depending upon which print (Discoverer or either Map of Discovery), sales can be really brisk and I remember one framed rolled pair of the aps of Discovery bringing $750+
Regardless of which print, if it is a folded supplement, the very highest is $25 with no foxing, creases in tact and not brittle, perfect. As condition goes down, value decreases dramatically, and I have dozens of all that I am happy to get $5.

Nonetheless, a good mounting and the right position, one really can not see creases without looking for them. I do have one early rolled Wyeth pictorial in a Society frame, but I also have two sets (one 1930s frames, other inexpensive modern wood) of the Maps of Discovery which had been supplements, and am perfectly happy with them.

Which ever of his five murals and whether a former supplement or a rolled treasure, I am certain you will continue to enjoy it. They are among some of the Society's best geographic art. I also challenge one of the tech-saavy whippersnappers to upload all of the Hubbard Hall murals to the Collectors' Corner, or if any system administrator is monitoring postings, I invite the Society to do it directly

Chris...thank you so much for your reply. It was folded in the hope chest and I believe that's how it was published in that issue - but no tears, rips, or waterstaining...you have to look really closely to see the fold marks. We had it professionally framed - so I suppose the framer did a good job in mounting it properly.

It is quite beautiful, and I will continue to admire it. I will probably soon be searching for the Eastern Hemisphere to have it framed along side of it in the near future.

Hello Paul...I am presently looking for all 5 Wyeth reproductions from 1928-29 (also many of older inserts). Good condition folded copies would be just fine. Willing to buy or trade.

One trading possibility, if I got it right and you are still interested, is the Oct. 74 magazine variant which lacks the red notation of the map on the spine, and adds a reference to American Indians at bottom of spine. I have a couple of extra copies. What I don't have is the one with the red map notation...
