Nice Atlas!
Wyatt,
A National geographic binder case of fair to good condition. There have been 488 maps and supplements since 1888. Pre 1930 maps and supplements in excellent condition bring the best prices. Post 1930 material has only marginal value because of the millions of maps each month. Maps are my area... Tom and Mel are the index collectors...
Phil
Wyatt,
Since 1914 the National Geographic has printed two volumes a year, six monthly issues in each (Jan-Jun, Jul-Dec). Since there has been over 1400 issues but less than 500 maps or supplements (photos, posters, paintings, graphics, etc.) randomly scattered throughout them, it is hit and miss as to how many maps/sups there are in any one volume. The range is from 0-6.
Before 1914 there were 12 issue per volume (i.e. one volume per year) going back to 1896. That is before your indexes start (1899). The first six volumes 1888-1895 had variable numbers of issues, spanned multiple years, and, in some cases, overlap with another volume. There are indexes that go back to 1888. 1888-1946 and 1888-1988 come to mind.
Phil is definitely the one to talk to about selling the maps and binder.
Tom Wilson
There were on average 4 maps and/or supplements(usually large photo pictures) each year. The maps are dated clearly. Binders have little value. Keeping the maps with your collection increases the collection's value. The highest prices for maps & supplements start with April 1913 and go back from there. Here's a detailed list of the money issues , Jan 1902 is the most valuable maps(2)....
