Excellent image Lloyd!!!

Lloyd,

Great image!

This painting is reminiscent of the photo on page 352 of the September 1988 NGM (the 100 Years issue displayed in the painting).  That photo was originally from the December 1963 Esquire Magazine.

Can I ask you where this painting is from?

Tom, that's another great photo you posted. The one I posted I am not sure where it is from, I actually forgot I had it and don't even remember how I came to obtain it, though my guess would be that I googled images/photos that relate to NGM.

I love that Grandfather & Grandson painting. I so wish I could get that as a print to frame.

Scott, That's exactly what I plan to do, I can't remember where I found it online, but I simply copied to my computer, and when I get the time I will copy it to my flash drive and run it down to the local Walmart and print of an 8 x 10 copy of it and frame it for my office wall. I have a number of photos I want to do like that.

interesting idea Lloyd! Say, is your file a good copy, clarity-wise....will it print out well at the size you mention?

Comment by Lloyd Bonaccorso on January 26, 2015 at 6:14pm

Scott, I haven't got around to taking it in to try yet, guess I will find out when the time comes, I may have to try a few different sizes if the clarity isn't to my liking. I'm not too picky, it only has to look enough as a person would see it walking into the room, I don't expect anyone, or myself, to be scrutinizing it from 6 inches away, haha , with a magnifying glass, lol, but you know what I mean, if it looks good from a few feet away, and not blurred or pixelated, then it's good enough for me.

(Regarding another topic: I read the "The Dark Side of Breasts" that Tom posted. So one of those views was mine, just a few minutes ago though. Anyway I read your post about making groups private so that joining was required to view and comment, well the "comment" restriction is already there. I tried to comment to say one of the views was now mine, but it said I needed to be a member, so it's only the viewing that is open, the commenting is still private or restricted.)

Thanks for calling that to my attention Lloyd. I just went and double-checked the Group settings --->

I cannot control (fine tune) the aspect you mention. As the creator of the group, the most I can do is keep the group "open" for viweing ...anyone can see everything posted in group ; and, I keep the join setting open so a person can click "join" and they are instantly a group member ..... ---> as opposed to setting it to wait for "approval".

I recall now again that that is true, a non-group member cannot comment without joining. Well, I hope you do Lloyd! Show support & solidarity and join all of them, or some of them. It doesn't mean you are contractually obligated to submit posts, haha.

Sure, you know how you might be looking for a book to read, just any book, in the library and you just scan the titles to see if anything sparks your interest, or you see something, some word, some topic, or just something in that title that makes you say "Hey, what's this about?", so you then look inside? ... Well, that's kind of what I was doing early on when I joined the corner, I would go to the Group page and scan down the lists of group titles, and if something in the title sparked my interest then I would venture inside and have a look. I may have been interested in the content, but may not have joined as perhaps I felt there was nothing I could contribute, but was interesting to read just the same.
