Between April and May 1923, the National Geographic Magazine changed the copyright listed along the bottom of its internal masthead. The masthead on the April 1923, and prior issues, simply reads: "COPYRIGHT. 19XX. BY NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC SOCIETY. WASHINGTON D. C."
The masthead on the May 1923, and subsequent issues, is expanded and reads: "COPYRIGHT. 19XX. BY NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC SOCIETY. WASHINGTON D. C. IN THE UNITED STATES AND GREAT BRITAIN."
If anyone knows the reason for this change, please let me know in the comments.
