Interesting query Stephen! This is a new one on me . . .
Though, I have literally used old scrap Nat Geo maps to wrap gifts before, heh heh.

Stephen,
I have a few of the packages of Geowrap. They came out in 1991. I will have to get back to you after the holiday as to the map supplements that were used.

Stephen,
The only date that I could see was October 1979 Medieval England. There were only seven sheets per pack; one
30" x 40" and six 20" x 30". It states that some of the maps are duplicates. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but I do not want to open up any of my packs. The internal maps are not the antique maps as the outer (larger) map, but blue. Geowrap is an outgrowth of the Society's recycling. They are heavier than actual wrapping paper making them more difficult to fold.
About the same time, the Society came out with a Map Stationery Set. In the interest of conservation these map sets were made from outdated Society maps. There are 100 sheets of 6 1/4" x 9" map stationery (white on one sided), 50 envelopes and 100 send-and-return address labels were included. It comes in a rigid map folder (World with no date) and was manufactured by Forest Saver, Inc. for the Society. All the maps are blue.
Jeff
how very interesting.. . . I vaguely remember the stationary from old 1991-92 Society brochures.
