Hope it's going well and have fun! Safe travels to you . . .

Richard,

Thank you for the gifts from the summit.  I don't know what I've ever done to deserve such gratitude.

Yours In collecting,

Tom

You are a valuable member of the Collectors Corner. The gifts from the summit are to show my appreciation for your postings.

"The 2026 National Geographic Storytellers Summit was held in February 2026 at UCLA’s Luskin Conference Center in Los Angeles. The event, introduced by CEO Jill Tiefenthaler, featured a hybrid format with live and streamed presentations focusing on photography, conservation, and immersive storytelling.

Key Highlights and Honors:

-- Eliza Scidmore Award: Carlton Ward Jr. received this award for Outstanding Storytelling, recognizing his work in using visual narratives to drive conservation policy and habitat connectivity in Florida and globally.
-- Climate Crisis Documentation: The summit highlighted new National Geographic Explorers (including Lynsey Addario, -- --- Pablo Albarenga, Malin Fezehai, and Gab Mejia) tasked with documenting the global climate crisis over the next three years.
-- Speakers and Themes: Content covered journeys into remote regions like the South American Rain Forests and Africa, as well as the technology behind the James Webb Space Telescope. The event was curated by Kaitlan Yarnall, NatGeo’s Chief Storytelling Officer.

Related Initiatives:

-- Storytelling Series 2026: An ongoing educational program for students (Grades 3-8) featuring live events and activities designed to explore the power of storytelling.
-- Africa Refocused: The summit context included the Newf Fellows Summit, a partnership with the National Geographic Society aimed at empowering young African filmmakers to tell their own conservation stories.
-- Museum of Exploration: The summit occurred alongside preparations for the reopening of the National Geographic Museum of Exploration in Washington, D.C., scheduled for the Summer of 2026."
