Recent Religious Covers
in the December National Geographic Issues
For five years, from 2015 through 2019, the National Geographic has had religious-themed cover art on the December issue - just in time for Christmas. That streak was broken when the cover of the December 2020 issue was about the Great Lakes. Here is a list of those holiday issues, with photos of the Covers.
2015

Cover article is about Mary, mother of Jesus; with a tie-in to a show on Nat Geo.
2016

The article is about the healing powers of faith and uses a religious cover to convey that thought.
2017

The cover article is about the "Historic" Jesus - what little we know.
2018
The article is not just about the Bible, but the Torah and Koran as well - their history and their evolution.
2019
The cover article is about recent archeological finds beneath the ancient city of Jerusalem.

Yeah, once this started happening a few years in a row, I had thoughts of the NGM issues from the 40's + 50's that had "Holy Land" articles and map supplements in December issues . . .
