I have a April 1913 edition Edition National Geographic magazine for sale. Asking $234 but open to offers. It looks to be in very nice condition but is missing the fold out. Even the spine is very nice for its age though someone seems to have added a small piece of tap to protect it (see pics). Can take more pictures if you want. If interested just reply to me here and we'll go from there. Thanks

I have every issue of National Geographic from 1909 - Current. (Except April 1913). I just can't bring my self to pay over a $150.00 for a magazine (I found one at that price).
I'm curious why the April 1913 is so rare. Did someone corner the market on that particular issue - and burn all the copies - except 10. :) I would pay maybe $50.00 - if I ever find one at that price.
I have about 15 from 1900 - 1909. I'm sure they are going to cost more.
This link should help explain why April 1913 has become one of the most expensive issues newer than March 1905:

I was asked to include a short analysis for the pricing of April 1913 loose issues to my eBay guide a couple of months ago. You'll find the " newly inserted" discussion under the "New Data" section.
I anticipate revising my guide with new pricing by the end of this calendar year.
I hope this answers your question.

Thanks - I still don't understand the 'logic' of the difference between March or May 1913 - and April 1913 - but I'm going to bite the bullet and bid a large amount on a current ebay auction. ( I won't say the price in case someone else is watching) - but it won't be as high at the buy it now price of another issue at $449.00.
It doesn't have the insert (which is not what I care about) so I'll probably get it and my collection from 1910 - current will be complete. I will then start working on 1900 - 1909 (I already have most of 1909, and about 10 from other of those years. Now will I go crazy and start to buy the 1800's (I hope not. :)) National Geographic needs to do another reprint series. There is obviously a market. I've written them about doing it 'myself'.
Yea - I now have April 1913. I now have 1910 - Current (All magazines) and about 12 from the 1900's. Time to take a rest and then start 'obtaining the rest'.
