I have a set of bound National Geographics (bindings are Arends Book Covers that apparently provided a simpler notebook style binding in place of a sewn library binding), covering the years 1925-1960 (the years of 1930 & 1943 are missing). The magazine covers are missing due to the binding process, as well as the fascinating original print advertisements (!). Supplemental materials like maps were also not kept. I also have two volumes of the National Geographic Magazine indices that covered this time period and which we used to look up information.
The magazine contents are in good condition, and as a first hand set, it is truly remarkable on many levels--scientific, cultural, and anthropological.
The set was a labor of love by my father who died over 40 years ago, and I am now ready to let go. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who would have some leads about how to find a new owner who can enjoy them as I did for many years.
I enclose a quick snapshot of the bulk of the collection, and I do mean bulk!
Thanks.
