Several early originals (1892-1900) just went up on eBay. Most have taped covers or a separated front cover. The person offering them has the opening price set low and seems to understand these problematic early issues are not worth as much as ones with intact covers. My question is, is it worth purchasing problematic early issues even at the right price? I haven't seen any offered in a couple of years. Are they so rare that problem issues are worth considering for an otherwise problem-free collection?

As long as they are complete, it will only add value to your collection. Then perhaps, one day you may find one in better condition.
