I am Australian teacher librarian and I am building a backset of National Geographics to refer to for my work. I don't really care much at all about whether some are reprints or originals, although I do know that connoisseurs are…"
It looks like you have an awesome and quite large and cumbersome collection of National Geographics. Are they all bound into volumes or are there individual issues?
As others have mentioned you'd make the most selling the collection…"
"First, I would suggest relisting your original post. Several new posts have appeared in the past few days and it appears yours has dropped off of current listings. It sounds like you have a neat set. The problem is everyone is fleeing from the…"
"Hi Mark, I do appreciate all your information to date. I plan to move soon and would like to sell this collection of 75hardbound volumes. What price do you think I should ask for the collection that might be attractive to someone? thanks Deb"
"I think you are in the right place with the Collector's Corner. The only other option I am aware of is eBay. Listing, figuring out postage, and actually shipping them sounds like a hassle to me. Maybe other members know of other options I…"
"I have followed your advice and find that the early volumes with red covers, 1888-1907 are reprints and from 1914 on are original. Again Missing volume 5 and 9-13, for those early years.
Do you know how I can obtain a value for this set?…"
I am Australian teacher librarian and I am building a backset of National Geographics to refer to for my work. I don't really care much at all about whether some are reprints or originals, although I do know that connoisseurs are picky about these. I am presently the Library Services Co-ordinator for a local government municipality library. I can't say that I am a non-profit organisation, because I am not, but I would treasure and refer to them often, as I presently do the ones that I have. I don't know what happens in US, but here in Australia, few libraries have retained their print runs, even when they were complete from volume 1 - it is really rather criminal - I don't know what packing and shipping would cost from US, but I have freighted boxes of National Geographics by air from New Zealand and costs were ok, so it is within the realms of possibility. If the volumes that you have are till around and wanting for a new owner who will treasure the, please let me know.
Thank you and kind regards
