National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

I noticed in the November 2012 issue there is a 4-page foldout poster of a cheetah.  It is even advertized as such on the cover.  It is connected by perfs with instructions for removal.  I remembered the October 2009 5-page foldout of a redwood.  It too has perfs labeled "Remove Poster Here".  Neither of them are flagged as a supplement in red letters on the issue binding.  This is in contrast to the August 2000 Olympics "supplement" which was red lettered and attached by perfs.

My question is: Does anyone know of any other recent posters, i.e. multi-page foldouts designed to be removed by perfs?

BTW, I have left all three in their respective issues instead of moving them to my supplement collection.

August 2010: Blue Holes of the Bahamas is one with perfs for easy removal. Another is the December 2010: Barcelona's Natural Wonder. In 2011 there were 2 posters with perfs: September 2011: Visions/Photo Journal and December 2011: Cats in Crisis. I consider them supplements because they are designed to be removed from the magazine. I hope this helps Tom,

Best,

Phil

Thanks Phil.

I also noticed that the April 2012 Titanic foldout is a perfed poster.

I agree with both of you on the items you've listed.
