As most of the regulars here at the 'Corner are well aware, I have both a love of maps and of indexes. So when I run across a Map Index, I am doubly ecstatic. I recently purchased an Article Reprint from June 1969 entitled "Deerfield Keeps a Truce with Time". The article itself is about the town of Deerfield, Massachusetts both its past and present. Settled in 1669 (300 years at the time of publication), it is now a college town. This town was the site of a massacre of pioneers by Indians in 1704.
To my delight there is not only a two page map of the town on pages 788 and 789, but it is also indexed. It has the standard number/letter grid across the top/bottom and down both sides. It also has the individual buildings numbered. The index itself is located in the lower right corner next to a small inset map showing the towns location in lower New England.
