Selling off our collection of the rare early NGMs on EBAY NOW!

Hi, I am a collector and dealer in paper ephemera. Full time bricks and mortar shop - 35 years in the business. I have come into a very nice collection of National Geographics. It is comprised of ten (originals) of the early (pamphlet) issues including #1 (1888) and #3 (original state - not bound or ex-library). Repros in the collection are #2, and 4 (both the 1922 reprints) and Vol.s 2 (1890) 4 (1892-93) 5 (1893-94), and 6 (1894-96) bound 1964 reprints. It then picks up with Jan., 1896 with complete years in original binders (with the wires - original state, and removable) and is complete through 1980. Condition varies from good to excellent throughout. I have done some research on the collecting community, and dealers who specialize, and have decided to list the rare early part of the collection on Ebay, issue by issue. We have started with 1900 which are currently posted. We will be listing them going up chronologically until we reach the more commonly found material, probably around 1910. 1910 and up we will be selling in our retail shop. When we have finished with the 1900s, we will begin with the 19th century issues, starting with 1899 and going backwards, listing all the ORIGINAL issues eventually reaching Vol 1 No 1. The facsimile editions and binders, and perhaps some of the loose maps will be periodically added in. Our starting prices will always be below what we have determined to be reasonable retail prices. Our auctions are always "no reserve". We are working hard to accurately describe and photograph each offering, and have a 100% positive feedback rating on Ebay. Please feel free to contact us directly or through Ebay with any questions. Please DO NOT ask us to end an auction and sell to you directly, as it is against our (and Ebays) policy. Please feel free to inquire about those issues we have not yet listed on Ebay, but know that short of an absurdly high offer we will proceed to list this collection on Ebay in the manner described. Thanks for your interest, Cheers, John Hanawalt, OLD SEATTLE PAPERWORKS, mail@lulastudios.com

Do you have a web site for your retail shop and/or will you accept "reasonable but not absurdly high" offers on your 1910 or later items you decide to sell from your retail shop?

Hi Melvin, We do have a web-site for the shop but it is brand new and we are currently focusing on offering our reproductions of vintage graphics, etc. However the web-site is a good way of keeping track of customers wants, for down the road when we start offering more of the originals we have in our shop and warehouse. The url is: oldseattlepaperworks.com  In the meantime. I am more than willing to entertain offers on the post 1910 Nat Geos, and, other than a few issues that consistently sell high, I will not be looking for any more than reasonable retail prices. However, having a well known shop in a popular tourist destination (10 million visitors annually to the historic marketplace we are in) does mean that I can readily get $10 or $15 for a geo that collectors might be able to find for somewhat less. Also even though most of the teens, 20s, 30s, etc are in original binders, they are not always in the greatest condition. You'd think that someone who had #1 and a lot of rare issues would have insisted on pristine for the common issues, but that is not the case. Anyway please feel free to send me a want list and offers for any post 1910 issues and I will see what I can do, Sincerely, John Hanawalt

Thanks John, an email was sent using your contact option on your website.

Hi Again, It was brought to my attention by a fellow NGM enthusiast that I failed in my previous post to state my Ebay user name under which these auctions can be found (thanks Bruno!) Our user name is: "myastrik" Thanks to all who are bidding on and showing interest in these great old periodicals, Regards, John
