National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

I have a collection of National Geographic,  some are hard bound,  I have some pages missing,  I have a page missing in the Oct. 1912 section.  How can I obtain that page before I send it to the book binders to get it rebound.

Thank you

Presently, there are no October 1912's on eBay for sale:

However, you can "save" this search as a standing request and as soon as one is listed, you'll be notified.

I know of at least three (3) October 1912's, ranging from Fair to Very Good condition, that have sold on eBay since August of this year. Their average sale price was $28.75. So, they do become available on a fairly regular basis.

On the other hand, you might look on this forum's main page, upper left margin and click on "Dealers Directory." Several of the listed dealers probably have what you're looking for. Some dealers, such as Nick Koopman (South Region) specifically offer "binding copies" that are usually with loose or missing covers and sell for a significantly reduced price from good quality magazines.

I have extras of every issue in 1912 "except" October.

Yet another way of obtaining missing pages, though NOT in the original, is to obtain a disc copy of the NG magazine. You can print specific pages and trim them down to size. A word of caution
is that the paper and ink, especially if using an ink jet printer, would probably bleed onto the adjoining pages in the bound volume over time. If you use this method I'd advise obtaining a laser print copy.

Hope this helps!
