National Geographic on The Adventures of Superman

With the recent passing of Phyllis Coates, who played Lois Lane in in the 1951 film Superman and the Mole Men and in the first season of the television series Adventures of Superman, a number of programs from The Adventures of Superman were on TV this weekend.

At the start of Episode 5 Season 1 “The Monkey Mystery” a map is shown. Looking at the typography, it's obviously a National Geographic map. This episode first aired on Friday, October 17, 1952. This may be the earliest appearance of a National Geographic map in a TV series.

Well thank you for sharing that neat, vintage tid-bit Richard! It's always fun to see National Geographic show up in such ways, even more so from way back when. Yes indeed there's no mistaking that typography on that screen shot you captured.
