Is there a database where collectors can see the production of magazines, special issues, etc?? Wouldn't it be nice to see the history and production year by year? Maybe someone created a website. Does one exist? I have searched for production for certain magazines and find lift me resources. Thoughts anyone?

I do see an online archive for every year. Must subscribe. I am curious if there's is detailed information, production runs, etc...is it worth it?
Maybe there's an encyclopedia that tells everything through certain years. Im trying to find resources Scott. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Look for the National Geographic Collector's Guides by Edwin Buxbaum, from 1934, 1952, 1966, and 1971. Also Roger Nathans "Collectibles of National Geographic Society" from 1982.
There's also some self-published booklets by a Don Smith, from the 1970's - 2000.

Dalton,
If you are an existing subscriber to National Geographic magazine, you are already entitled to the Online Archive of NGM's.
go here ---->

(go to Log In ----> Sign In , not sign up)
It will provide you instructions on how to access the database.

Dalton,
Can you clarify what you mean when you say you are interested in "history of production" info ?
Yes sir! How many copies were produced. One would think during economic times etc...they would not always produce the same number of copies every year; Perhaps, even supply and demand.
Whithout being an expert, it's hard to tell whats what. Like this listing on ebay. Did Nat Geo make this reprint? If so, when? How many copies were issued, etc... Doesn't seem like enough information channels it there's. This book looks way too nice to be an original. Not just this book, but in general. An overall category, kind of like the United States mint.
So that copy in the image you cop[y/pasted from eBay is either a 1964 or 1975 REPRINT COPY .... not original.
That asking price $$ is beyond absurd, LOL.
