Ian,
The National Geographic Society printed the "Approaches" map as a supplement for the July 1944 issue of their magazine. They printed several thousand more for the U.S. Army and its allies. It appears that one of those was used as the basis to create this map of the post-war divisions of Germany and Austria. The modifications had to be done in 1945 after the Yalta Agreement. It looks professionally done. As to the value, I haven't a clue, but it is much rarer than the original map supplement.
I hope this helps,
Tom Wilson
Ian,
What a great find! Would you be interested in selling it?
Let me know,
Jeff Persons(pjepdds@aol.com).
The market in these is very thin so it is very difficult to assign a value. You may want to consider placing the maps on an action site (e.g., eBay) to maximize your sale.
