National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

I have seen a number of leather bound editions and the ones I have seen either have the Albrecht Plane and Globe or have a camel on them . Some others are plain leather bindings with NG on the front. I came across one that was edition L1 , Jan-Jun 1927 and it has a sailing ship on the front. Is this rare or are there other different covers for these leather bound books? I only bought this one as it was diferent...$10.00 at a used book store.Any info would be greatly appreciated.....Thanx

Hello Ingo!

Welcome to the Collector's Corner. I had thought there was already a description conversaton about the various bound editions of National Geographic Magazines, but I can't seem to locate the one I am thinking of.

I'll get back to you with some info. Meanwhile, you can try using the "Search" box at the upper right-hand corner of this site to try and find past posting related to your questions.

take care,

Hello Scott

Thanks for the welcome. I did have some success at indentifying this type of cover......I found some with the same cover being sold on e-bay , so I asked the seller if the books had an embossed stamp on the inside cover.
The answer was yes. These editions seem to have been made by the Thomas J Malloy Company
Chicago, USA.

Until I find other evidence that contradicts my findings , I will assume that these editions are all from the same company.

Thanks for your concern and have a nice day unless you have other plans.
Ingo
