I own a quantity of glass photographic positives, negatives, and lanterns slides the jackets of some of which have the name "Prof. B.W. Mitchell," "Boys Central High School," the date 1909, and National Geographic written on them in ink. I am trying to obtain more information about this man. I was able to locate a Florida newspaper obit from the Evening Independent, June 13, 1944 which mentions that he was a professor of language at the school (in Philadelphia) and he conducted pack trains into unexplored regions of the Canadian Rockies for the Canadian Pacific Railroad. In connections with these trips, he authored "Camp Life in the Canadian Rockies" published by MacMillan in 1924 (available used on Amazon.com).

I would like to determine if the National Geographic Society sponsored or co-operated in any way with Professor Mitchell? I wonder if your archive might have any information about Professor Mitchell?
I am in the process of downsizing and wonder if your museum or archive would have any interest in seeing this material and possibly having it donated?
I will await your reply. Jeffrey Kenneth Kohn, M.D. (215) 327-8318 jkkohn@comcast.net
