National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

Hiram Bingham, "Machu Picchu, A Citadel of the Incas" and April 1913 NGM

Hiram Bingham, 1930 original, from the first 500 print run, Machu Picchu, A Citadel of the Incas. Being a newbie to the NGS Collector's Corner, is this the proper forum to post my books "for sale" requests? I am in negations with a rare book dealer now but would rather sell the above book to a collector. I also have a few other old NGS books such as 10,000 Smokes, Horses, Cattle, Wild Flowers, and Stratosphere 1935. Any advice or interest would be appreciated.

James,

Hello, and yes this is absolutely the appropriate venue to  connect w/ other collector's and endeavor to swap/buy/sell/trade.

Welcome to the 'Corner,

   ~ Scott S.

Ditto as to Scott's comments.

FYI - there was only "one run" for the YALE PRESS making this a "rare" publication.

Good Luck!

Mel

Thank you for the good wishes. I followed your earlier advice, read up and studied the various NGS categories of collecting and came up with a "path forward" to downsize. I'll start by posting all my stuff individually on the for sale forum. Separating bound (Vols. I thru VI and 1910-1951) from individual magazines (1896-1909), WWI & WWII issues, maps, books, and specials all reminds me of the old adage, "How do you eat an elephant?" ... one bite at a time. The Collector Corner' groups will be seeing a lot of me for awhile Mel, please let me know if I'm headed down the wrong path ... I don't want to become a pest to the others.

James,

Go ahead and post what you need to post. Nothing wrong with breaking things down into group lots. You will not be a "pest" to anyone  : - )

regards,

    Scott S.
