I have a complete 40 year collection of National Geographic magazines that I would like to sell. The collection comes in slip covers and all of the maps which were included with the magazines during this period. The condition of the individual magazines ranges from Fair to Excellent with the majority being in in Very Good condition.
I am also including the following hard-bound NG publications, both of which are in Excellent condition:
National Geographic Society: 100 Years of Adventure and Discovery
National geographic World Atlas - 7th Edition
The asking price is $450 not including shipping and handling. If the buyer is anywhere near Portland, OR and would like to pick them up to save the shipping costs, that would be fine. If you live within 300 miles of Portland I will deliver them to your door for a flat fee of $150.
If you are a serious buyer and would like more information about this collection please email me at the address below and I will send photos of the collection.

Please tell how you arrived at this value? I have probably 600 issues from 1962 to 8/2011 and am looking how to price.
Thanks,
Terry Davis
I priced using a figure of $10 per year because of the fact that they come in the slip covers which, alone would cost more than that. The extra $50 is based on the fact that the collection includes the two books and all of the maps.
My assumption is that a significant part of the value lies in the fact that the collection is complete as opposed to covering many years (or even decades) but missing issues here and there throughout the entire time period. I have been monitoring other collections posted for sale on this forum and have found that collections which include all issues for the time period covered seem to be the only ones which sell.
Thank for your reply. These issues are not in slip covers. I am getting ready to make sure all years are included so don't know how many, if any, are missing. There appears to be approx. 550 issues.
Do you have any suggestions on where to sell? or where to donate if don't sell such as an educational institution?
thanks, again.
Terry Davis
