Maybe this is already known, but I was going through my May, 1916 issue and I noticed that it has the same Kelly-Springfield tires ad twice, once before the articles and again after them. The ads on the back of each page are different, so it's not as if one of them was inserted by mistake... I don't know if the NGS ever noticed this or if they charged Kelly-Springfield double for the ads!

This is an interesting find, Juan. My copy has only one Kelly-Springfield ad, and that was in the back. My copy has a Quaker Oats ad after the one for Glacier National Park.
Yours in collecting,
Tom Wilson
Juan,
Thanks for sharing this anomaly! Well, I had my 1910's-era NGM's here for several months but just last week took them all back up to my storage unit, so I can not now compare my copy to yours and Tom's.
I did just pull up the Complete National Geographic Magazine on DVD-ROM, and checked, but it shows the 'correct' advertising -- i.e., no duplicate Kelly-Springfield page.

Interesting and apparently unique find Juan.
In those bygone days the NGS had very strict publication standards.
My issue is the same as Tom's.

P. S. Scott, you're just going to have to revisit your storage unit... ;)
