National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

I am looking for a copy of the August 1941 edition.  My great uncle is in one of the photographs in the article, North Carolina Colorcade, when he worked as a master carver at Thomasville Chair Company (later TFI).  My mother had two copies of it but gave them to his daughter and grandson and I am trying to locate another copy for her to keep for herself.

Thank you for your help!

Denise,

A quick search on eBay lists 11 of the August 1941 Nat Geo.  Just enter: "National Geographic August 1941".  One is listed for $1,00.

Denise,

I researched the article and found this picture of a master carver who I think was your great uncle.
