National Geographic's Collectors Corner

Collaborative site for collectors, dealers, & anyone interested in our history.

For anyone who is interested in the alternate cover versions (in English):

either newsstand versions, or UK-Canada-Euro covers that are different from the U.S. covers:

May 2007 - "India's Shadow City:Dharavi"

January 2006 - "Who's Winning Iraq?"

July 2006 - "Under Rome"

...are currently available on the US eBay.com site, under "National Geographic" + month, year

You can look them up and get them if you have interest, and they are not priced high at all. Just FYI, I don't know the people selling them at all.

P.S.

For a full discussion, on-going list, and sample photos of the various cover variants, see this discussion:

I am also compiling a detailed, comprehensive list of all cover variations in Excel, and hope to have it done soon and would gladly share it with anyone.

Addendum:

The Excel master list of cover variations is near complete (based on the info. I have available so far).

I also now have a photo file of 20+ alternate English-language covers, for anyone who may be interested. I will continue to update the file with "new" cover variants as I become aware of them (NGS + NGM have indicated that they do not have a list of the alternate covers, and are not able to supply any information regarding this).

Hi Scott,

I'm interested in your list. Please mail me to gruescho@gmx.de.

And I have a (hopefully) new alternate cover - from february 2010. The NG homepage shows a cover with "Polygamy in America" but I bought the mag with the cover "Hubble renewed" (see the picture).

Salutations to you, Heiko,

I will send the list to you, and also will try to send you my file with the cover photos. I will first add your "new" discovery - February '10 issue. I did not know about that one yet!
