My Map Index Collection
I have already posted images of my Map Index collection in an album here at the ‘Corner, but that display poses some problems: a) it has to be loaded in the order you want (there is no sorting feature); b) manual sorting using drag-and-drop is wonky at best, impossible at worst; c) all new additions are dropped at the end; and most importantly, it is limited to 100 photos. I am getting dangerously close to that limit with 96 indices plus one additional image of one I don't have. My placeholders push the number well past the limit. By placing the images in a discussion, I control their order; can easily insert a new entry in its proper position and can edit any existing entry easily.
All the images are from my collection except for one that is of an index not in my collection. I have included place holders for some of the Indices not (yet) in my collection, but not all. There is a block of twelve revisions of older map indices within which appear the three “plain white” indices which were printed between the shaded globes of the ‘30s & ‘40s and the busy covers of the ‘60s & ‘70s. All other indices for which I don’t possess nor have a photo I’ve used a placeholder image. By using a "discussion" to display my collection allows me to easily add new entries and update or replace entries.
Whenever possible, I have used the Map copyright month and year even if the index copyright year is different. Most revisions have the Map Year followed by the Index Year. Below each image I have listed its status in my collection.
