I've been a life member of the Society for 55 years, a member of its Grosvenor Council for 28 years, and as of 2024 a member of their Hubbard Council. My wife and I reestablished the Washington Geographic Alliance in 1996 to further geography education in grades K-12 in Washington State.

In 2018, I became the Washington State Competitions Coordinator for the GeoBee and the GeoChallenge.
