As my good friend Cathy Hunter mentioned, the National Geographic Society is no long administering or financially supporting the Collectors Corner.

Cathy deserves a great deal of praise for administering this site in addition to her full time job in National Geographic Archives. With all of the recent staff and budget cuts at the National Geographic Society, she was directed by management to divest Collectors Corner from the National Geographic Society.

I was selected to administer this site as I am well known by National Geographic Society employees as a long time life member (since 1970), a fanatical collector of all things National Geographic, and a major contributor to their Base Camp project.

Since becoming this site's administrator a few days ago, I inherited over 300 membership requests. Serval months ago, Cathy was told by her management not to touch the site. I have reviewed and completed these membership requests. Profiles with links to commercial sites or non-existent websites have been denied membership. Questionable names have also been denied membership. Collectors Corner is not a forum for buying or selling or discussing anything except the National Geographic Society and its publications. 

I have several ideas for making this site more useful to collectors. I would also like to hear your ideas. I will be posting these over the next few weeks.
